MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS READATHON 2021

E

ACH year from in the month of August the Multiple Sclerosis Australia (MSA) runs the MS Readathon.

The readathon encourages all people regardless of age to

participate in the community fundraiser as well as raising awareness in their region.

The MS Readathon is an event to promote those that are living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and support those who are living with the disease. It also offers an opportunity for parents, children, and teachers to be involved in the cause to support each other and raise awareness.

This program is run by schools, teachers, and individuals who support through fundraising books they are reading.

This is a great way to teach your children and students the value of giving to charity and providing help to others through community-based engagement.

It also helps grow their literacy and knowledge.

It is a fun program because they can challenge their reading skills by setting reading goals, track their reading progress and at the same time raise funds to help people living with MS.

It is an opportunity to make a difference, help others, and be proud of their accomplishments.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic illness that targets the central nervous system and disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body.

It affects more than 25,000 people in Australia and many individuals and their families are impacted by the disease.

Common signs of MS can include:

- Blurred vision

- Difficulty walking

- Fatigue

- Muscle weakness

- Slurred speech

- Pain and spasms

Although MS does not currently have a cure, research and treatments are constantly being developed to help those diagnosed manage symptoms and maintain quality of life.

The MS Readathon not only supports families who are affected by MS but also helps fund vital MS support services such as the MS Family Camps.

These camps provide a safe and fun environment where kids who have a parent with MS can connect with others who understand what they are going through.

They give children the opportunity to have fun and be supported while gaining helpful knowledge about the illness.

Fundraising is also a key way that allows the community to support those living with MS. While some may choose to read books, others can sponsor, donate, or spread the word to help.

Everyone has the ability to make a positive difference.

You can register online, join a team, or create your own team with family, friends, or workmates. Every registration makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.

Let’s help make a difference for people living with MS and show them they are not alone.
